Today, I’ll take you to Sharp Sight Hospital in Jammu, where I took my grandmother. I’ll share everything I observed and felt during my visit. This is my first-hand experience, so I am going to review Sharp Sight Eye Hospital in Jammu with honesty.
Let me tell you that this hospital is located in Gandhinagar, Jammu, near Women’s College. You will find it directly on the side of the road, and there is parking available in front of the hospital.
Sharp Sight Eye Hospital Jammu Review
Here, I’ll review the hospital overall. I’ll also list the names of the doctors that I noted down while waiting for my turn. This review is based on my experience, and others may have a different one.
Sharp Sight Reception
After getting out of my car, I entered the hospital reception, which is referred to as Ground Zero by the hospital. I found a gentleman and a lady there, and I inquired about the OPD since it was our first visit. They asked me to fill out a form, where I provided the details and was charged Rs 99 (haha, it’s a good trick).
The gentleman then gave me a printout of the bill along with a file and referred me to the -1 floor. They have a lift there. We took the lift to the floor and entered the second reception. Honestly, the reception staff are great, so the review is positive.
Sharp Sight -1 Floor
We went to the -1 floor and reached the second reception, where I handed over the file. Within 2 minutes, they took my grandmother for the first test. The technician there was humble. He simply used the machine, printed a report, and stapled it to the front of the file.
This floor is the heart of the hospital. There are 17 rooms, each named B1, B2, up to B17. Each room has its own specialties. Let’s review the rooms with the B designation, where I took my grandmother.
Room B13 Sharp Sight
After receiving the first report within minutes—thanks to our early visit—they transferred us to B13. We encountered another friendly staff member there. He examined my grandmother’s eyes using various tools. There was a screen in front of her, where he asked her to identify letters. He then used additional tools to check her eyes for further clarity.
After completing the examination, he provided the report and informed us that she has cataracts (Safed Motia) in both eyes, with the right eye being more affected. The recommended solution was surgery. He then referred us to Room 1.
Room B1 Sharp Sight ( Dr. Lt. Col Abhinav Singh )
Before entering the room, we waited for about 20 minutes. The staff member there applied eye drops to the patients before they went into the doctor’s room. Eventually, another staff member came and took us to Dr. Abhinav Singh’s room. Dr. Abhinav Singh is a DNB Ophthalmology Consultant specializing in cataract surgery.
Dr. Abhinav Singh examined my grandmother’s eyes using a tool whose name I don’t know. After a brief examination of one or two minutes, he discussed the need for surgery.
I asked to decide on the best date for the surgery and inquired about the cost. Up until reaching his room, we had only spent Rs 99. However, he recommended an additional test, which seemed unnecessary since surgery was the final plan. Despite my confusion, I followed his advice.
The staff member who was helping us took my file to the reception, where we were charged Rs 800 (for the doctor’s fee, I assume). It felt like the main motive was to extract more money from us, and they succeeded in doing so.
Dr. Abhinav Singh seemed nice, but his counseling skills were average. The communication with patients was not very polite. It felt as if the primary focus was on making money.
In a surprising turn, the doctor suggested we could do the surgery that day, which would take about 20 minutes and cost Rs 10,000 (with a low-range lens).
Since we had an Ayushman Bharat Card, I asked the staff about using it. The response was that the card was not usable anymore. We were then referred to Room B14.
Room B14 Sharp Sight
In this room, another staff member with a modern tool performed the test. Honestly, it took him hardly 1 or 2 minutes to complete it and provide us with the report. He then instructed us to go to the doctor’s room.
We returned to B1 with the test results, but the doctor barely reviewed them and asked if we wanted to schedule the surgery for today or tomorrow. I wasn’t convinced by this. He then referred us to B4 for the package inquiry.
Room B4 Sharp Sight
There was a nice lady who was very professional and well-mannered. I discussed the surgery with her and asked about the package details. She provided a detailed breakdown of the options, listing everything from the higher range to the lower range, including the types of lenses and the surgery fees. Here is the breakdown of Sharp Sight Eye Hospital’s lens offerings for patients with cataracts (Safed Motia):
1. Monofocal Lens
- Spectrograph – Rs 8500/- along with surgery fee
- Arial Clear ( Indian Brand) – Rs 21,800/-
- Focus Force ( US Brand) – Rs 34,500/-
2. Multifocal Lens
- Ey hance – Rs 45000/-
These are the lenses available per eye. A mono-focal lens allows the patient to see distant objects clearly, but nearby objects may still require the use of spectacles. A multifocal lens enables clear vision for both near and far distances, eliminating the need for spectacles.
List Of Doctors At Sharp Sight Eye Hospital Jammu
Many people mentioned that this hospital has doctors from Chandigarh, but I didn’t find any evidence of that. Most activities are conducted on the -1 floor, where I encountered the doctors as follows.

He is DNB Ophthalmology and is a Consultant Cataract Surgery In Room B1 ( -1 Floor )
2. Dr Rimpika Mahajan
She has MBBS, MS, and FVRs Her specialty is Vitreo Retina Surgery. You will find her In Room B3 ( -1 Floor )
3. Dr Poonam Sharma

4. Dr Nitee Gupta
She is MBBS, MS and Her Specialty is Cataract and glaucoma. You will find her in Room B6.
Conclusion
So, this concludes my review of Sharp Sight Eye Hospital in Jammu. My views are mixed. The receptionists and other staff who are simply doing their jobs are good people. However, those focused on the business aspect seem to prioritize money above all else. They may extract money from you through unnecessary tests and by creating a sense of urgency for quick surgery. Therefore, it’s advisable to research other budget-friendly options before choosing this hospital. If you have ample funds, you can decide based on your preferences.
